I have not seen anything on the D60, so I looked around a bit...

http://www.kenrockwell.com/nikon/d60.htm
http://www.photographybay.com/2007/12/28/nikon-d60/

Not much real information...

If you like the D40, but want to use all the lenses, I say hold on another week or two and I'm sure the specs will be out before the camera is released.

I'm not a religious fanatic about Nikon, but you do know by now that I'm pretty far down the Nikon road. See what you think of the 450D vs. D60 when they are available to have and hold. I think the D60 will be smaller, but they might be just about the same. I still don't see a rear command dial on the Canon and this just seems wrong to me after using it on all of the Nikon's. It's intuitive and each dial works the way you want it to for whatever function you need. You don't have to hold down different buttons or step through menues. Just see how the Canon works with one dial or maybe you will find that it has two. I just don't see it in the pictures I find,

As far as Live View being "training wheels," I'm going to take a different stand. I have wanted this for years for macro and I am finding it nice when using the tripod at heights a bit above my reach. Why is this all that different than a view camera? You can zoom in 13X to confirm focus on a critical piece. Frankly, it's not very convenient to use, so you tend to use it only when it provides a distinct advantage. It really slows down the shooting process - way more than a typical point and shoot that uses the LCD for framing.
References :
450D: Big Screen + Live View = training wheels for point-and-shooters

Nikon D60: Unless it has full frame sensor, don't care

Pentaxes: Don't care

Just my 2 pesos.
References :
I was looking forward to the 450D or XSi, until I saw that it had a "consumer" SD slot and was basically just a beefed-up version of my XTi with features I don't really need. I'm saving my money up for a 40D, maybe, but I think canon will come up with a new one by the time I got some serious cash.
As for Nikon or Pentax, I'm a Canon fan. Sorry, don't know nothin' 'bout that.
