she is a huge and well built camera. Only black point is the higher then 10 mpix sensor. On apsc based sensors, the upper limit before it gets dirty is 10. Higher it results in noise and only way those camera handle it is software cheats that flatten the noise, also called the best way to destroy a shot. On the other end, the per pixel sharpness when the light conditions are ok is just amazing. Take such a camera as a good gear with a 600 iso absolute noise limit.
The K20D is from the body construction absolutely a master piece and the new K2000 is just a toy compared to it.
So, if you get one, don't worry, it has limits but you will love it. It's solid as a rock. And, Pentax offers a nice choice of lenses as well as other manufacturers.
References :
I like not going through the menus to switch certain settings. More cropping leeway. Better viewfinder. Weather sealed. It's got quite a bit going for it for the price point. There are probably more reasons but I've only had mine for a couple months.

If you did get a K20D. Go here for help when you need it. It's a great forum for Pentax users.

not if your a beginner.
the portrait quality also isn't very good unless you have proper lighting.

if you are just starting out try a panasonic lumix.
they are pretty amazing and affordable.
