How to use manual lenses on Pentax K20D?
Posted by admin | Under Pentax K20D Monday Aug 31, 2009I just got my Pentax K20D body today thinking that all my manual 35mm lenses would work with it. They mount onto the camera just fine, but when I turn the camera on, I get a blinking "F–". I can’t "lock" in the lens at the smallest aperture, and I tried going to "input focal length" in the menu, but I can’t access it, and I can’t take pictures at all. How do you make it work?
I’m using a Tamron 28-200mm f/3.8-22 zoom lens and a 50mm prime f/1.4-16 lens, if that helps. They’re both manual focus.
Go to http://www.shutterbug.com and type pentax k100d in the Search box. Look for the Review of that camera by Joe Farace in the Oct. 2006 issue. On page 2 you’ll learn how to use your older manual focus Pentax mount lenses. It should be the same or similar for your K20D.
Of course, it may be covered in the Owner’s Manual so looking there won’t hurt.
