I’m a Nikon fan, but have also worked a lot with Canon and can’t say enough about their quality. I’d say the Canon!

The Pentax is a DSLR which will be better in almost anyway than a point and shoot camera. Even a very good point and shoot like a G10.
DSLR’s have a sensor that is about 15 times larger. Uses interchangeable lenses that are optically superior to those of point and shoot cameras. They also have faster more accurate auto focus, no shutter lag and are easily adjustable.

Definitely not the G10…mainly because the G11 has just been announced. And seriously…the Pentax K20D is in a totally different league!
Personally I’d go for the G11 since I’ve already got two SLRs, it would be good to have a handier piece of kit. But the K20D is undoubtedly the more serious bit of kit.
