Improving on the technology of the award-winning K10D, the flagship PENTAX K20D is the highest resolution camera in the advanced photo enthusiast category and allows more experienced photographers, who demand complete control, to fully customize the camera. The K20D will be available at calumetphoto.com.

The most significant features in the K20D include:
A newly developed CMOS image sensor to bring out the optimum performance of PENTAX interchangeable lenses. Featuring 14.6 effective megapixels and the latest noise-reduction technology, the sensor ures superb image quality.

Custom Image functions that allow users to select between six preset options and further adjust image processing, including saturation, hue, contrast and sharpness. The K20D also offers an Expanded Dynamic Range function that allows users to gain more contrast and detail in bright settings.

A Live View that allows users to see the full image area to confirm composition, focus status and lighting on the large 2.7 inch LCD monitor. A grid display may be engaged to help ure the perfect arrangement of an image and Auto Focus may be activated by simply pressing the AF button on the back of the camera. Further fine-tuning of the image can be confirmed with the 4X or 8X zoom option.

An improved Dust Reduction system that features the new Dust Alert function to pinpoint the exact location of dust particles for the photographer to remove.

A weather and dust resistant body that allows photographers to keep shooting even in harsh conditions.

A PC sync socket for more advanced photographers who use studio lighting.

I would say though, based on what you have said, that the sensor in the camera has become misaligned or damaged. Send it in for repairs

Ugh, make me feel better please. Tell me why I didn’t make a mistake.

Pentax isn’t bad at all, I mean they make great bodies, in my opinion they make bodies and lenses that surplus the cost unlike Canikons, Weather-proofing, top LCD, great pricing for such a big package, etc. Not trying to say that they’re not good, they’re pretty good but I feel like they aren’t enough, they aren’t boosting out enough at once. They did release a K-7 that boasted a better low-light AF which all previous Pentax had, but at the same time it’s not that big of a difference in image quality when in comparison with the K20D. Sure it’s a great body, but it’s still a APS-C and maybe when Pentax does release a full-frame in like 6+ years or so, most of their DA lenses won’t work with them anyways which is what I’m investing in right now.

I went with Pentax because I don’t even know now when I read and see Sony becoming bigger and better everyday. I mean I read about the in-body image stabilization, weather-proofing, etc from Pentax. But then Sony also has the in-body image stabilization too. Sony went in the DSLR game way later than Pentax did… Yet they’re already busting out great bodies. Not just that, Pentax hasn’t even released a expert or professional range DSLR either, they’ve only launched two lines and that’s entry and advanced. Sony already popped a full-frame plus rumors are they’re going to release a full frame under 3,000 soon that will rock Nikon and Canon’s price of their full frames. Sony doesn’t have that much lenses compared to the big boys, but they are breaking out lenses from left and right. Sony has the money and they have the research & development to boost out even more lenses in their line-up, I feel like Sony has it solid and spot on in the DSLR game. Pentax is just playing catch-up the way I see it.

you did not make a mistake. just cause their top of the line is considered "semi-pro" doesn’t mean you don’t get amazing quality images with it.
I’ve been shooting with Pentax for years and love it. their lenses are incredible, and keeping the image stabilization in-body means that the pure optics of the lenses keeps the cost down without sacrificing quality at all. all the shots on my site were shot with pentax cameras and pentax lenses. I’ll be upgrading to the K-7 soon, and can’t wait.
