I like the idea of stabilization being in the camera which will reduce the cost of lenses myself.
The system on the Pentax K10D works just fine, in fact it can work better than lens based systems because it can also rotate the sensor slightly as well as left & right and up & down which is all the lens based ones have, this advantage showed itself when photographing Whitby from a boat and London from the river bus.
The big advantage is that every lens even old 42mm and K mounts are an image stabilized one, the camera prompts you to enter the focal length. I’ve successfully hand held an old manual 500mm lens with a shutter speed of 1/125th of a second, it just works.
I’m currently owning a E-510 of Olympus, and i had to return it back to the store because he was habing trouble( he was switching setting alone , had trouble doing the right metering). I must now choose between, going back with a new E-510 or change to a Pentax ( K10D or K20D). I love the two bodies even with my bad experience with the E-510. My main question is about the Lenses of the two brand. I first bought Olympus for the Zuiko lenses quality. Does pentax lenses are as good? i mainly shoot with wide angle and telephoto when shooting wildlife. I was saving some money to buy either the 18-180, the 70-300 or the 50-200 of zuiko, but now that my DSLR is broken….
so what do you think? does pentax optic are as good as zuiko one? ( i know that i realy love the fact that zuiko lenses are realy smaller…but if build quality of pentax are as good as zuiko for my need… maybe…)
I have collection of Pentax lenses going back over 30 years and the originals are still in regular use on my DSLRs.
Like most companies they produce lenses to a price and lenses for performance.
But even their consumer grade lenes are good and the lenses with the * in the name are excellent.

There are also good ranges of lenses from Tamron, and Sigma, with the same consumer models or pro standard SP or EX models.
The range of the iconic Carl Zeiss lenses for Pentax if you want some really top quality primes.

I’m thinking about getting the PentaxK20D but I want a camera that can take good action shots. How many fps can the K20D take?
Unless you’re getting a secondhand, the K20D is no longer available. Your choices are the K2000, the entry-level version which is fast disappearing, the K-x, the mid-level version in different colors, and the K7, the high-end version.
The K-x has 4.7 fps, a maximum shutter speed of 1/6000s, and a maximum ISO of 6400 enough to capture a Ferrari F1 race car which is also in a similar red hue.
My dad’s regular SLR is a Pentax, and he has the regular 18-50 mm lens that came with it and also a Tamron 50-200 mm lens that’s compatible with the Pentax. My question is can these lenses be used with any Pentax digital SLR, or would I have to buy a certain model?
Thanks.
Fortunately for you, Pentax DSLR cameras still use the same K-mount first introduced around 1975.
There are steps you’ll have to take to use the older lenses. You can find this information at http://www.shutterbug.com by typing Pentax K100D in the Search box. I rather doubt anything has changed since the K100D was reviewed in Oct. of 2006. The procedure for the K200D or K20D should be the same.
I love this camera

14.6 Megapixels! I need to know which lens is best suited for this camera? I have searched everywhere and most companies don’t include lenses with this camera. why is that?
Hey,
Lenses are specific to your needs.
What do you want to take pictures of? Wildlife, sports, portraits? Also, how much do you want to pay?
Browse the link to Pentax USA to see which lenses you need.
The standard setup includes a 18-55mm and a 50-200mm lens. Look at www.bhphotovideo.com for standard pricing.
