what prime lenses would be best for landscape and still life photography quality a must, pentax k20d?

You're talking about two different requirements, and you'll only get the 'brand victims' of Nikon and Canon on here. For those of us who know better you may get a better answer from people who really know here,

You're right to be concerned the sensor on the K20D will really show mediocre lenses for what they are.
Don't discount the old Takumar M42 lenses, manual everything, but superb image quality that has never been bettered. You will need an M42 to Pentax K adapter of course, don't get any with a 'flange' on the front you'll find that on some lenses you won't be able to focus on infinity. There some Takumar lenses that have Pentax K mount made during the 'transition' period in 1974. Its definitely a way of getting superb glass cheaply.
Landscape – The 10 to 17mm fisheye is a superb lens, if you like the fisheye effect. If not the 12 to 24mm is in the same class – superb.
Still Life – A macro lens is probably the best the 100mm moves you further away from the subject which gives you room to get the lighting in.
Don't get too hung up on primes, good as they are, lens technology has moved on and small range zooms (3X or less) perform as good as some of the older primes do.
This is a link from my favorite UK suppler (usual disclaimer – just a satisfied customer) you won't go wrong with these guys, ask them your questions for definitive answers. (ask for Chris – not me by the way).

Don't discount Sigma lenses either, particularly their EX range of professional lenses.

Posted by admin | Under Pentax K20D Digital SLR Monday Feb 9, 2009Is there such a thing as a fully manual digital SLR camera? Something like the old Pentax K1000?
Posted by admin | Under Pentax SLR Digital Cameras Monday Feb 2, 2009I need a camera with EASY manual features that aren't buried under 15 layers of menus.
I realize that almost all cameras, digital and film have manula functions somewhere on them. I am looking for EASY TO ACCESS controls like some of the older cameras use to have. Twist the lens for aperature, turn a dial for shutter speed, etc. Thanks for the input so far.
yes.
i recommend a canon digital rebel. They are GREAT starter DSLR's (digital) that work with canon's ef lenses or the Fuji Finepix f6500 if you dont mind having a fixed lense with a manual focus and zoom.
